We are celebrating Women's History Month!

There are so many incredible women in our history that made big strides for women empowerment that we can give credit to.

One in particular, Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States in 1849 and became a lifelong advocate for female doctors.

In her words, "If society will not admit of women's free development, then society must be remodeled".

Thank you to Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell for taking that first step and to all the women who are currently making strides in our community.

Today is World Teen Mental Wellness Day which aims to bring awareness to the mental health challenges teens and adolescents face. It encourages open conversation about these topics which can provide a way for reluctant teens to seek help.

Did you know suicide is the second leading cause of death for Washington teens 15-19 years old?

Have you checked in on your teen?

Same ways to support your teen's mental health are:
  • Schedule an appointment w/their primary care provider for an evaluation.
  • Encourage physical self care - healthy diet and exercise.
  • Foster mental & emotional care - journaling, creative outlets, nature walks.
  • Teach health boundaries.
  • Talk openly about mental health.

If someone you know is experiencing stress, anxiety, violent threats or anything making life hard call HearMeWA at 1-888-537-1634 or text HearMeWA to 738477. They offer free 24/7 support.

Or visit

We at Tumwater Family Practice want to let you know that Dr. Karolina Wilczynska-Oberc is taking a medical retirement and will no longer be practicing medicine.

As some of you are aware she has had some health challenges in the past and has always managed to work through them in order to keep caring for her patients.

Due to the re-occurrence of some of these issues, she has made the decision to take a step back and focus on taking time for herself and her family. In the future, if she does decide to come back to work it will be here at TFPC.

All of her patients may continue to receive care here at the practice and can see one of the other providers.

Thank you,

Tumwater Family Practice Clinic owners and staff.

April 2023 - Starting April 3, 2023 we will follow the CDC guidelines for health care facilities and move to "masks recommended" versus "mandatory" for both patients and staff. We have missed seeing our patient's faces and are excited to finally see you again!
  • If you are having COVID/Flu/Cold symptoms, we will ask you to wear a mask in order to maintain protection for other patients and staff from any virus you may be experiencing.
  • If you are having symptoms and prefer not to wear a mask during your appointment, you may call (360)918-0187 on arrival to check in over the phone and wait in your car until we call you in for your appointment.
  • If you are calling to be seen for COVID/Flu/Cold issues and don't have a negative test same day, we will still schedule a car assessment visit as we are currently doing.
